550 Gallon Megatainer LX IBC Tote

The Megatainer IBC tote is the largest all-polyethylene intermediate bulk container available in the industry and market. Megatainer IBCs have a 550 gallon volume capacity, 1.9 specific gravity rating, and are available in HD and LX model types. The Megatainer IBC is rotationally molded entirely from premium high-density polyethylene (HDPE) to 1/2″ thick sidewalls. Their professional engineering and ribbed construction provides superior strength and reliable durability against drops, impacts, punctures, tears, and reactivity with cargo. The Megatainer IBC is made for the bulk storage, transport, delivery, and distribution of liquids, semi-solids, and granulated materials compatible with high-density polyethylene.
With a 550 gallon volume storage capacity, the Megatainer IBC is the equivalent of ten 55 gallon drums or two 275 gallon IBCs. Choosing the Megatainer IBC makes for a smart business decision if used to replace drums or IBCs that may be of limited reuse. The reusability and durability of the Megatainer will provide lasting reliability, ease of work service, and significant operational cost savings over the duration of the container’s long service life.
Build and Certification
The Megatainer IBC is engineered with design characteristics that improve the container’s usefulness, versatility, transport portability, and integration into applications, job sites, and work scenarios. Megatainer IBCs are built with a unique horizontal design and low profile that improves top accessibility for filling and streamlines the container for transport, maneuvering, organization, and stacking. The Megatainer features stacking alignment lugs to ensure proper, stable load displacement for stacking of additional Megatainers and other IBC types.
Megatainer IBC tanks are approved and certified for use per Title 49 CFR and UN/DOT. They are made from FDA compliant resin suitable for food grade applications and ANSI/NSF 61 certified for potable water uses. Megatainer totes are manufactured and tested in full compliance to the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) for intermediate bulk containers. Megatainers are UN/DOT 31H2 labeled for transit and freight handling of Packing Group II and Packing Group III hazardous cargo and commodities.
Poly Megatainer IBC containers are resistant to corrosion from weathering and chemical attack. They are compatible, safe, and ideal for handling many types of common chemicals and solutions including strong acids, caustic bases, oxidizers, solvents, flammables, and combustibles. The Megatainer IBC can be used with certain, compatible Class II and Class III combustible solutions.
Features
The Megatainer features a 7″ GEM threaded cap with SII 2″ NPS center vacuum relief and pressure vent, a 2″ NPS Rieke® polyethylene replaceable bung for accessory access and applications, and a Banjo® 2″ full port 4-bolt bottom drain valve bulkhead fitting made from glass filled polypropylene with Teflon® seats and stainless steel bolts secured within a protective recess. The Megatainer has an average gravity flow rate of 70 gallons per minute.
The Megatainer IBC has a platform base longer than other IBC types, measuring 81″ long by 48″ wide to maintain both a low profile height of 60″ tall and the container’s large volume capacity. The 48 inch width of the container maintains a similar width size to standard shipping pallets. Megatainer IBCs have a forklift and pallet jack compatible platform base with 4-way groove channels for multidirectional access and maneuvering.
The Megatainer LX features stacking alignment lugs to ensure proper, stable load displacement for stacking of additional Megatainers and other IBC types.
The Megatainer LX IBC tote model does not feature the lifting lug and cross bar package. For this feature option, choose the Megatainer HD. The Megatainer IBC tank is manufactured by Snyder Industries in the USA and includes a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty.
